NaNoWriMo.org has some cool links, one of which led me to Big Huge Labs magazine cover generator. This is what I got for my working title…
Yep, I’m still procrastinating…

“Come on, we don’t have far to go, don’t die on me now.”
The blue Vega chugged fitfully along the forested highway, each stutter making Valerie hold her breath until it decided to keep going. Everything she owned was in that car and to be stranded, this close to her goal was more than she could take. Tapping the accelerator pedal, she bullied the car into continuing on.
Sister Hazel crackled from the tinny speakers, but at least the radio worked. Today it did, anyway. Tomorrow could be different. Valerie had a love-hate relationship with the car, though the only thing worth loving about the Vega was that it started. Most of the time. Long-distance drives seemed to affront its delicate constitution.
“We’re almost there, buddy.” The large German Shepherd riding in the back seat pricked his ears and tilted his head at her voice.
“I haven’t been very good company, have I?” He whined, poked her with his cold nose, then leaned against the seatback, wagging his tail and watched the passing scenery out the window, looking for all the world like a bored passenger in a taxi.
Valerie Roark was coming home. Her childhood home was empty and waiting for her to come occupy it. She needed somewhere to go after Benjamin Harrison Dean had screwed around on her and finagled the bitterest divorce known to mankind. After eight years of being his family’s pariah, she was ready to be around people who actually gave a damn about her.
